Don't remember where your domain is registered?

Free WHOIS Domain Lookup

Type in your domain and see who it's registered with, when it expires and where its nameservers point. It takes seconds and it's free.

Why Realtors look up their domain

Your domain runs your website and your email. If you can't say where it lives or when it renews, a lookup is the fastest way to find out.

You forgot who you bought it from.

You grabbed the domain years ago and the login is long gone. The lookup shows the registrar, so you know exactly where to go to log in or reset your password.

It's about to expire.

When a domain lapses, your website goes dark and your email stops arriving. Clients and leads bounce. Check the expiration date now and renew before it sneaks up on you.

A past web person registered it.

A former designer, brokerage or friend may have put your domain in their own account. If they disappear, so does your control. Find out where it sits and get it into your name.

Someone already owns your name.

Want janesmithhomes.com? Look it up first. If it's taken, you'll see when it expires. If it's not, you can grab it before someone else does.

What your results mean, in plain English

WHOIS records can look technical. Here's what each line tells you.

Registrar

The company your domain is registered with. This is where you log in to renew it, unlock it or change settings.Tip: search your inbox for that company's name to find your old receipt and login.

Expiration date

The day your domain stops working unless it's renewed. Your website and email go down with it.Tip: turn on auto renew so this date never catches you off guard.

Nameservers

They tell the internet where your website and email are hosted. Change them and your site can go somewhere else, so don't touch them unless you mean to.Tip: the company named in your nameservers is often your website or email host.

Status

Codes like "client transfer prohibited" mean the domain is locked against unwanted transfers. That's normal and good. You unlock it only when you're moving it.Tip: "redemption period" or "pending delete" means it already expired. Act fast.

Privacy redaction

Seeing "Redacted for Privacy" instead of a name? That's normal. Most registrars hide owner contact details to protect you from spam and scams. It doesn't mean something is wrong. The registrar still knows who the owner is, and you can confirm it by logging in to the account that pays the renewal.

Found your domain? Here's what to do next.

Scattered logins, surprise renewals and a domain in someone else's account. Solve that with Cyber Grapes.

Questions Realtors ask us

Is the WHOIS lookup free?

Yes. Look up as many domains as you like. No account, no credit card and no catch.

Why is the owner info hidden?

Most registrars now redact owner names, emails and phone numbers to cut down on spam and protect privacy. You'll usually see "Redacted for Privacy" or a privacy service instead. The registrar still has the real owner on file. If it's your domain, log in to the account that pays the renewal to confirm it's in your name.

What if my domain is about to expire?

Renew it now. Once it expires, your website and email can stop working right away, and after the grace period anyone can register it. If you can't get into the old account, find the registrar in your lookup results and use their password reset, or call us at 763-CGRAPES and a real human will walk you through your options.

Can I move my domain to Cyber Grapes?

Yes. Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the transfer code (also called an auth code), then start your transfer here. Domains registered or transferred in the last 60 days usually have to wait. Your website and email keep working during the move as long as the nameservers stay the same.

What's a registrar?

A registrar is the company you register and renew a domain through. It keeps the official record of who controls the domain and where it points. Your lookup results show the registrar, and that's where you log in to manage it.
